help with ending
Someone be a dear and explain the ending... for whatever reason I just didn't understand, and that makes me even madder that I sat through it!

Hmm, i only really watched this once, i owned the dvd, but somehow i haven't had the urge to watch it again, so bare with me for a min.

Just in time i thought, then the baddy ran away and fade for your thoughts on what will happened to those people that had involvements. Like a Hotel Hell of pervertive psychopaths.
Anyway, the most shocking results was the conclusion that it was her boy be-friend whom she'd be in danger to. So,the rest are left to our own imagination i guess. The end

I was confused by the ending also, and I'm still confused. So was it also her boyfriend who was calling her through that weird device, in addition to the regular telephone?
We see him talking to her on the regular phone, then we see the other guy (couldn't really tell who it was) through the modulating device. Was the "normal phone" supposed to be what she thought was on the other end of the line, but the "modulating device" what was actually there? Or were these two different conversations, perhaps her boyfriend calling someone else?
There is no "other guy." Only Toby was in that final scene. Chloe calls Toby, and invites him over because she needs a hug. After he hangs up, Toby repeats his last line to himself several times, into some kind of voice-altering device revealing that he is the same person who has been harassing her with obscene or silent phone calls.
As movie endings go, I think it's pretty straightforward, the only thing ambiguous is what his intentions are.

Actually there are two guys harassing her with phone calls. The boy friend is doing it with the metal contraption and the neighbor is calling her but never speaking. He is the one she tells where she is locked up. It's his phone call and Theresa's post together that finally get the cops off their asses to check it out. The across-the-street neighbor helps her because he just wants to continue looking at her from afar. The boy friend as far as I can tell knew nothing about her kidnapping and neither did her friends. Nice friends.
