Will be on Svengoolie on 4 February 2017

Godzilla, King of the Monsters (1956) will be shown on Svengoolie on MeTV on Saturday night, 4 February 2017, at 9PM Central Time. 

Sven will be showing only Godzilla movies in February and this is the first one. I haven't seen this one before and I think this is the first time Sven has shown it. 

A pre-Perry Mason Raymond Burr stars as American reporter Steve Martin. If they remade this movie today, would Steve Martin play Steve Martin?? 

On the old Sanford and Son TV series, Fred Sanford loved Godzilla movies. If Fred were still around, he would sure be watching Svengoolie this month. 

Thanks jameswill! I am so looking forward to February with Svengoolie! 

I have seen bits and pieces of the Raymond Burr iteration, but never in its entirety from beginning to end. Great anticipation for this and the second film Godzilla Raids. Never ever saw that one. Cheers to Sven for showing them

You're quite welcome, lima-2. 

Godzilla movies are always fun on a Saturday night and we have a whole month of them. 

I am so sorry that IMDb is shutting down the boards. I will sure miss coming here and discussing Sven's movies with my IMDb friends. 

Hi again jamesbwill. Hello there Ms. Zanadu! 

Just watched that Perry Mason bit with Sven and Doug. That was pretty funny. 

Will miss you guys when the boards go away 

Hey there lima-2  !

I agree Sven jokes are really funny

I'm still hoping against hope that the petitions
on this " message board situation " will be settled up
and we won't have to say good bye to each other here  .

I like the all Godzilla month. This is a nice change from a program that has become rerun heavy.

I just read that http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000040/thread/264681264?p=11 IMDB is shutting the boards down. I don't blame them. There are certain shows and movies that have boards that are impossible to read because there are so many trolls.

That said, I've enjoyed this quiet corner of IMDB with other fans of these movies and movie hosts.

Thanks IMDB for taking a stand against hate (of any political type).

reply

We will all miss the boards, that's for sure.

Godzilla may win this one. He seems to have all of Japan buffaloed.

True jamesbwill   .

Another interesting bit of trivia is that
this first film Godzilla was suppose to be the bad creature in this one
but in all the other sequels he was the good creature   .

Looks like they got Godzilla at the end.

Better luck in next week's movie, Big Guy.

I don't usually watch Svengoolie, and I prefer the Burr-less original, Gojira, but this movie in any incarnation is so irresistible that I didn't even mind the surprise cameo of the Creature from the Black Lagoon near the end.
Svengoolie is just the latest in a long tradition of TV hosts who introduced younger generations to classic films. Too bad he seems to be the only one left.

I'm not crying, you fool, I'm laughing!
