the way she dressed

NO WAY would she ever be able to dress like that at school!
Rules: no spaghetti straps, no visible underwear, nothing that shows the stomach...She'd have been sent home to change!

Aside from that, I actually enjoyed the film, I just wanted to point this out. :)

Every school has different rules. In my old highschool, I could paint my hair green and come to school barefoot without any problems.

There are other things in this movie that are a whole lot less believable. For example, that her boyfriend was so easily persuaded to kill her stepfather.

If your girlfriend comes to you and says we're going to kill her stepfather, and is serious, then that tells you a few things. That tells you something is very very wrong. That tells you she is having severe problems. That also tells you she really and deeply hates him.

First thing you do is find out WHY she hates him that much (so ok he knows her father drinks, but you don't kill a guy for that). And you keep on pressuring until she tells you.

After, you find out if there aren't any alternatives to killing hm. For example, going to the police and putting him in jail, giving her mother custody over her and the house. Problem soved, end of movie.

But, umm, he raped her. I'm fairly certain that was her motivation.

I am Jack's smirking revenge.

reply

Yes, that was her motivation. But I'm talking about HIS motivation. She never told him that he raped her. If you read my previous post again with that in mind, you'll get my point, since it appears you misunderstood me.

reply

Oh, right. Yeah, sorry. Umm... Yeah, the only motivation for him that comes to mind is love. Though it doesn't seem that plausible because they're only teenagers. He doesn't strike me as terribly smart either actually. That could be another reason.

I am Jack's smirking revenge.

I've watched this film several times and I don't recall her telling him what her stepfather did to her. It's up to interpretation. Also, Jimmy seemed pretty simple minded.

Cases similar to Jimmy helping Rosanne murder her father is something that really happens. In one case, the "boyfriend" helping a young female murder her father did so based on accusations the father molested her but she was lying. The boyfriend stopped midway during the slashing and proceeded to tend to the man's wounds. The boyfriend served time. In fact he may still be in prison.

That aside, this is the kind of film that asks the viewer to suspend disbelief about circumstances, such as what a character wears or whether the Jimmy would actually help his girlfriend murder her stepdad. It may be unrealistic but within the context of the movie it's believable. This isn't a biographical drama, "based on a true story," film.
