The most annoying character

OK, enough with "every character in this show is great". Everybody likes and dislikes people around, so that goes for the characters in movies as well. So, who do you consider to be the most annoying? I personally don't like Kim at all and sometimes Doc. What about you?

reply

Every character on this show IS great. They all give the show diversity and are realistic. However, I don't like everyone in the show just like I don't like everyone in real life.

Kim can get on my nerves, but I'm generally okay with her. Most of the time.

Holly can get annoying at times, as can Carlos. Holly is annoying when she gets too unbelievably hippie. Carlos is annoying when he's overly selfish.

Cruz is supposed to grate on your nerves, and she certainly grates on mine. However, I loved her during the Mann case. No one was better than her in the last two episodes (to name a few times).

I liked Bosco's brother Mikey for some reason, but didn't care at all for Bobby's screw-up brother Matty.

Doc is okay in the first few episodes, but I honestly can't remember any later times when I do like him. He's my second least favorite character.

I downright hate Monroe. Ever since we found out that she was an IAB rat and she led Davis on and betrayed the entire house, I have hated her character. Now I just dislike her even in episodes where I used to like her.

And Fred is the scum of the earth. He's not quite a main character, but he's almost as bad as Monroe in my book (and worse than Cruz, easily).

I didn't like Kim, they should have never left Jimmy and Kim in the same house because she just nagged Jimmy all the time and would find a reason to fight, most of the time over things that were not any of her business and it really interfered with Kim's work on the bus at times. I like Carlos in the last season but before that I thought he sucked because he just whined too much.

Whereas I agree the characters on Third Watch were all great because they were all so real, it hardly means I LIKED all the characters, and I think that's where people kind of get mixed up. Just because we say "all the characters are great" doesn't mean we like them. It just means they're both well written and well acted.

For me, Jimmy Dougherty was easily my most HATED character in the show, and Kim came a close second just because she actually found the SOB attractive and I've had far too many experiences with women like that... the "you treat me too well" type of woman. Dougherty, however, well, I don't know that I even found one redeemable trait in the character in any episode during the entire run of the show. UGH!

Of course, then you have "Doc" who, IMO, was the 2nd most self-centered character on the show. "Doc" had a stick up his ass about being black and that excuse was just plain played out by the time the show came out. I wasn't at all sad to see "Doc" lose his mind, nor did I ever feel sorry for Jimmy when he was shot.

I absolutely hated that they killed Bobby off. If nothing else, when Bobby died Kim was greatly affected, but it seems she never figured out what the vast majority of women figure out somewhere between 27 and 30 years old: That they really DO want a good guy who will treat them really well. Anyway, had to get my $.02 in on this topic, especially since I've purchased the complete seasons and I'm someone who found Third Watch far too late (2002 or so), so I'm finally getting to see all of the first few seasons instead of the spattering of episodes they show on the repeats.

Agree with what you said about Doc. That's why he's my second-hated character.

Jimmy is very redeemable when it comes to taking care of Joey after Kim's suicide attempt. But I agree with what Kim's mother says around that time, that it's nice when Jimmy can be there for Joey, but Joey needs a full-time father, not just someone who comes in to save the day like he does at the firehouse. I never really disliked Jimmy, although I thought he and Kim were idiots, especially together. I guess I didn't hate him for what he constantly did to Kim because she KNEW it would happen and went with it anyway. He slept with her SISTER, for God's sake.

Like many others Carlos used to annoy the hell out of me, always so selfish and whiney which I thought seemed a bit out of character for someone who had been a corpsman attached to the marines. He had a few shining moments where he redeemed himself but they tended to be few and far between.

Never really had a problem with Kim (could be because she is pretty sexy) , yeah she got too whiney at times but I tend to just tune that out.

Suprised that no one has mentioned Bosco yet though, given the ridiculous things he sometimes got up to. His character could get way over the top sometimes, more than was realy belivable to me.

The 1 that I really dont like though was Doc. There was something about Doc that really gets to me, always so damm self-righteous and arrogant. He always had to be right no matter what.

Monroe, Fred and sometimes Cruz.

reply

Definitely Cruz. I couldn't stand her

Outstanding acting all the way... the is only one character that annoys me. John Sully's Ukranian GF "Tatianna", she really ticks me off.

reply

I don't like cruz either because the show took a town swing when she entered the show. I couldn't stand finney either.. can't remember specifically why though... maybe because he was so full of himself.

Don't think I got much grudge against the other characters.. sure some episodes kim gets to nagging, doc a bit arrogant, faith's blaming everyone else for everything, Monroe is way to "nice"(I've never been able to handle people thats to nice and are gonna feel bad for and wanna help every damn one.)... I could go on, but they are all great characters and even if they got some bad episodes they make up for it in other once. Its just makes them more human not being perfect all the time.

From people that could be considered main characters at some point I would say that Cruz, Finney and Holly annoyed me the most.

reply

Without a doubt, Holly!

reply

Doc... Most arrogant and annoying character ever! I hated every episode that centered around him. His mouth always half opened and his ''I'm a god, better than everybody, selfish smart-a$$'' attitud always got on my nerves!

Cruz & Monroe usually, Doc occasionally, & who was that paramedic that took it upon herself to escort an injured prisoner out of the police station & let him escape? I remember watching that episode with someone & she asked me why they were so hard on that paramedic since she just made a mistake. I explained that she had no authority at all to take a prisoner like that.

reply

That was Yvette (played by Eve) in the season 4 episode "Second Chances". She was new on the job and didnt know she wasnt suppose to take the prisoner by herself.

reply

Without question, I would have to say Fred is in first place as the worst, and Finney Jr. in second. Fred was always an @$$ to Yokas, and from the heart surgery on I just couldn't stand his attitude and the way he tried to control Faith.

Finney was just a whiney little brat who wanted daddy to get him through the day. However he did chill out a lot after his dad killed himself, which was helpful in a sense and I began to not hate him nearly as much.

reply

Yokas. She was a walking talking hypocrite when it came to her and Bosco. Whether that was intentional on the writer's part or it just came out that way I dunno.

reply

Likewise, Faith Yokas. She is a hypocrite of the highest order, she murdered a handcuffed prisoner, messed Fred around, the woman needed a beating but quick.

I suppose I should detest Cruz for being a suicide bomber, but she was very easy on the eye and a tomboy, a very, very sexy combo.

Faith Yokas. Biggest. Hypocrite. Ever.

i don´t think so.
at one point in season 1 or 2 sully says something like: those qualties which make you being a good cop, make you being a bad human.
i see her (and sully, doc, kim + others) living in great conflicts, trying to be good in both (and she + kim additionally: a good, protecting mother), but the world is complicated and there´s not only black+white.

i find her (them) interesting and complex, not always sympatico, but realistic + lifenear.
