Home Movies is better than...

...Family Guy. By better I mean its not even in the same league. Family guy is some shallow, mindless crap and I'm 100% certain that if one likes FAmily guy but not Home Movies, that person is inferior to me and to every other HM fan

reply

I completely agree.

reply

For sure. I like the first three seasons of Family Guy, but Home Movies definitely wins any day

reply

Same here, I think FG's first three seasons were it's best, there were some moments of greatness afterwards and I liked the feature length Stewie's future thing but mostly the show's gotten weak and predictable.

Home Movies was consistantly great throughout it's run, there's excellent episodes in every season and I especially love seasons two and three.

I'm in agreement with everyone here.

Home Movies and Family Guy are both funny as hell in different ways. I love them both. You don't have to pick one over the other to be a true fan.

I'd like to amend your statement just a little bit. Here goes:

"It's also better than the Simpsons, Southpark, Metalocalypse and American Dad 'combined'.

There, much better.

reply

It's also better than...

the Simpsons--The current seasons yes, but I do think that the older seasons of TS are generally better.

Southpark- Not completely, but overall, sure. I'll give you this one.

Metalocalypse- Yes, but then so is colon-cancer.

American Dad-Very debatable.

reply

Agreed. But not until i woke up until like 4 in the morning and saw Home Movies and I'm so glad i fell in love with it.

Home Movies > American Dad > Simpsons > Family Guy

Maybe if Seth McFarlane could change their style of dialogue to improv and retroscript then it would be pretty cool.

reply

Home movies is better than anything Adult Swim put out in years.
The best of The Simpsons is better than the best of Home Movies but since The Simpsons don't know when to quit, i would say, as a whole, Home movies is better than The Simpsons.
South Park, on the other hand, is better than Home Movies.

Somebody's had too much to think.

reply

nowhere near family guys level!

There has never been anything funny about Family Guy. It is utter sh!t.

I agree. Completely.

Family Guy was great for three seasons and has since weakened and become nothing but Seth MacFarlane's means to express his views and opinions on everything. It has very much declined, whereas Home Movies started off good and continually improved. I can't think of a funnier animated character than Coach McGuirk, he's freaking brilliant!

reply

I liked Family Guy until it was canceled. Its resurrected incarnation just wasn't funny to me.

And yeah, Coach McQuirk never failed to make me laugh. Often hysterically. While other characters might have a lukewarm episode, he never did.

Not to say home movies isn't kick ass - it is, but comparing it to family guy is like comparing Jupiter to Pluto. (Family guy is Pluto)

However I disagree in saying its better than the simpsons, maybe the simpsons currently, but not the simpsons from 10 years ago.

reply

I do not recall saying Home Movie was better than the Simpson's. I have been a true fan of the Simpson's from the Tracy Ullman days. I recall when Ullman was canceled. I was disappointed I'd not get to see them again. As well as her own show. The Simpson's and Married with Children MADE the Fox network. It was dead in the water without them. Granted after 300 episodes it is hard to stay in top form but they are still one of the most intelligent, funny shows on air.

I love Home movie. I do. I was a fan of Squiggle Vision & Dr Katz (I liked the interaction between father/son/secretary better than the guest comics) But I love Simpson's too. Sorry....I'm droning on. I just woke up and I'm o pain meds....

To me, I like both shows, but Home Movies kind of makes you care about the relationships b/t the characters. It sounds lame, but McGuirk is one of my all time favorite characters b/c no matter how dumn@ss he acts, he is funny and always takes time out for Brendon. Same goes for Lynch and McGuirk and Melissa and her Dad. In the end, I would much rather watch McGuirk than Peter or maybe even Homer.
