Which family do you think was the coolest?

I think it's the Hispanic family by far: they looked like they were having fun all the time (except the time when the father showed up for obvious reasons) unlike other families who seemed to become anal about something at some point, also they were very cool about daughter's vietnamese boyfriend and about mother's boyfriend as well.

I agree also ;)

I liked the Avila family best, too; and it was even funny at tims, when the ex-husband showed up. He knew he'd loused up a terrific family but he was so pettily possessive of his ex-wife who seemed cool and calm. And the verbal zingers thrown at him by some of the women in the family were hilarious. In a way, he got his "just desserts."

No question it was the Avila family. Their holiday was a true celebration of life and family.

The Avilas because they were all family.

The others were either kooky...the Asian family or they had outsider friends....the Jewish family....that noisy redhead, the Black family with their friends and their weird daughter.

At least have problems with JUST the family

Definitely the Avilas, I liked this family very much except for the
husband who admitted to an affair with his own spouse's cousin!
And I loved the scene when the grandmother commented on his
extramarital indiscretions! He was such a big, unlikeable jerk
and I also liked the character of the wife played by Mercedes Ruehl.
Strong minded and also very likeable as well as feminine. The
daughter was also appealing, young and naive though real pretty.

None of them, this was pretentious crap

All of the families were fun to watch, but I concur with you about the Hispanic family. If I had a choice of any of these 4 families to eat Thanksgiving dinner with, there's no doubt I'd pick the Avilas!
