huh?

First I would like to say that I liked the movie in general...scooby doo is awesome (always has been)...but in this movie Ben Ravencroft and the rest seem to think that Wiccan and Witch are different...Witches are practitioners of Wicca...so a wiccan and a witch are the same thing....I know this because I am wiccan....now wiccans do not use the witchcraft that Ben uses in the movie with the book and of course are not evil...I guess that just confuses me...

Wiccan and Witch aren’t evil unless the person has a Sinful souls and Tainted and Dark Soul witch Sara was, now Thorn was a Virtues Soul and Pure soul basically you chose to be Evil or Good.

On top of THAT, The Wiccan Church was founded in 1950 by Gardner in England. It would be IMPOSSIBLE for someone's ANCESTOR to have been a Wiccan. It's not a bloodline thing either. It seems like they tried to update the whole witch thing and just got it all messed up.

That's what happens when uninformed people try to be politically correct! And there is no "Wiccan Church" only covens that follow similar traditions, just to clarify.

Let's see if I can make a list of things they got wrong:
Witches are evil: Wrong, but acceptable considering it is a fictional witch, not trying to portray an acual group of people
Wiccans are good: Well, that a lovely thought, but it is really the individuals, not the group that is good or bad; treading on thin ice since this is a real religion
You inherit Wiccan blood: WTF utterly ridiculous, since their were no Wiccans, as we know them today, before 1954 and you are misrepresenting a real group of people!
Wiccans are medicine women: Well, I suppose they could be, but not back in the pilgrim era! There would have pagan healers possibly, but that is somewhat different.
Wiccans banished the Witch: it's the same thing!

If I missed anything someone add it!

If we forget religion, and just concentrate on acting human, something is going right.

reply

Well, yes and no. There two sides to the same magic. One good and one evil. That's the only difference.

All I know about the differences/similarities between witches and Wiccans is what I learned from this movie. Right now, I'm thinking of The Crucible and I'm positive there were no Wiccans, but witches and the Devil. I guess what I'm really saying is...

Someone clarify this for me, please! I'm getting confused.

"If u don't control ur rage-"
Or what? My rage will control me?
Alice:Profile, find who he is.

Well, okay so the Wiccan religion did not appear until the 1950's BUT there were individuals who practiced some kind of nature worship that has pagan roots. However, in real life, if Sara Ravencroft had been discovered doing that in 17th Century New England she would've been hung as would ANYBODY who claimed to have "healing powers" that came from nature. The Puritans were very church oriented, rigid Christians.

Just to clarify a few things.

1) Wiccans and Witches are NOT the same thing. One can practice Wicca without being a Witch, and not all Witches practice Wicca.

2) Who ever heard of the Church of Wicca? Yes, Wicca did come about in the early 1950's, however, Gerald Gardener did base it off older Pagan traditions, so modern day Wicca does contain elements that go back further than the 1950's.

Also, the last comment made me chuckle, do you honestly think that the townspeople would have been able to get anywhere NEAR Sarah Ravencroft in order to hang her? She would have fried em. hehe.

true enough but the same could be said about many religions. a lot of protestant sects (particularly along the Baptist axis's) can talk all day about the practices of the Catholic church and the Kaaba was in inprotient to the pagan religions practiced in mecaa before the coming of mohamed.

the thing to remember is that "pagan" is a vary brood term it basically mean's religious practice based of the Abrahamic faiths.
