Continuation of SOMETHING WILD?

Yes the production is mediocre and Patrick Swayze is irritating.

However Melanie Griffith is great. I saw the movie as a continuation of her character in SOMETHING WILD, whose name was also Lulu.

I thought her name was Audrey in Something Wild.

You're right. Her given name was "Audrey." However, in the beginning of the film, when she was sporting the black wig, she was going by "Lulu." Even Ray asked her something to the effect, "Is that your name today, Lulu???"

Different characters. In Something Wild, "Lulu" was a temporary persona (for Audrey) based on a character played by actress Louise Brooks. The Melanie Griffith character in "Something Wild" had mad some bad choices in her life, but was far from being a schizophrenic mental patient.

I am a big Melanie fan and trust me this is not close to a sequel to 'Something Wild'. The violence at the end of the movie, and what Jeff Daniels went through to get her back is very different. Not to mention the fact that if you see the final scene where she reverts to Audrey in the car, and she and Daniels end up together.
