After Craig beats Jokers' dog with his belt, Joker delivers some of the strongest dramatic 'hood movie' acting i've seen, but what's even more remarkable about his performance is how he simultaneously says some of the funniest lines in any movie period. Lets examine the brilliance and craftsmanship of this performance:

Consider the first line where Joker says, "Cruelty to animals Ese! Cruelty to animals!" These simple lines in the hands of a lesser actor would never have the effect that Joker provides. The inflection he uses on 'animals' is Oscar worthy.

What happens next is almost tear jerking. After Craig's relentless beating of Jokers dog, Joker delivers a line with such emotion and nuance it transcends religion: "That's wrong Ese, that's wrong...He did nothing to you!" This simple statement sums up the eternal paradox of mans inhumanity to man.

I've seen a lot of posts comparing Day Day's performance to Smokey's...I think the real comparison should be between Joker and Smokey....indeed.

Devious,
This has to be one of the funniest posts I've ever read! This movie was on last night and I turned it on just in time to see this part (which also happens to be one of my favorites) and laughed my ass off!

I also love after Chico is back in the house how Joker yells at Craig "you f-d him up for life man! He's scarred!". The inflection on the word scarred is priceless.

reply

He does deliver those lines perfectly. But I laughed just at the fact that he was still standing there, talking *beep* The whole event was over and his brothers already went in the house. He was so hurt that Craig beat his dog. I find that hilarious how he just stands there in shock.

"No more locked doors! Gracias!"

reply

Joker and his babe on the couch...."GO FLEA BISCUIT, GO FLEA BISCUIT"... supposed to be ...SEABISCUIT!!(was a race horse!!) ANYTHING he says just cracks me up..."DOES THIS LOOK LIKE A 7-11 TO YOU? DO YOU SEE THE RED DOT ON MY FOREHEAD, MY FRIEND? NO? THEN, F#%@! YOU, MY FRIEND!!" Too funny!! His accent is hysterical!! and the facial expressions make it too much!!

reply

You got a pretty mouth ese......AHHHH NNNoooooooo!!!!

reply

His accent kills me!

Then he says, *beep* you, Day-Day...and you too, Slim Shady!"

He has the greatest lines in the movie, and is so over the top!

reply

i thought the joker bros. characters were too sterotypical, but maybe thats why you found them to be funny.

His rant about the locked doors was confusing at first, but once I understood the joke, the part about him being bilingual ( as opposed to bisexual)was funny.

I'm going to keep my eye on you, you pinche mayate.

Hey Day Day, where's your other mayate at, homes?

And every time the "American Me" reference comes around, it should be noted that Jacob Vargas who played "Joker" in "Next Friday came out in "American Me" as "Pablito" the younger brother of Santana who was played by Edward James Olmos in that movie, respectively.

reply

"Pass the wire!"

"Don't look at me Lil Puppet"

That killed me.

reply

At the end of that Oscar worthy dog/belt scene , the greatest line comes after his second last 'we'll getchoo back , ey' when he simply quietly mumbles '#cker'
