Which vision of a catastrophe from all the movies of the series was the scariest in your opinion and why? For me it was the rollercoaster one because of the victims’ total inability to get out – if it didn’t happen up in the air, they’d have bigger chances to survive even if only in theory.
I would have to say the plane crash was the scariest, for the same reason you gave: there is nowhere to go. When you ride in a plane you are putting yourself at the mercy of the pilots and the people who built the plane. And besides, all the turbulence and people being sucked out through the hole in the side... jesus, those images haunted me for months after i first saw that movie.

Mall. I rarely ride a plane and my parents won't allow me to ride a roller coaster. I usually go to the mall and watch a movie. The mall scene and theater scene is probably the scariest for me.
If you love Jesus Christ & is 100% proud of it copy this and make it your signature!
It's not the scariest, but it's the one that always make me cringe. In FD2 when the kid in the dentist chair gets that plastic thing stuck in his throat and can't breathe.
For me it would have to be the scene where Ian gets crushed by the cherry picker or then ambiguous ending to the first one with the falling sign. Not sure why though
The car pile-up is the most terrifying for me as a new driver. I always have that "what if..." when I go for practice driving. What if my breaks fail? What if my foot becomes too heavy and I lose control? I'll put the plane crash second, even though I highly doubt I'm going to be flying anytime soon because I have a fear of heights and flight. Final Destination is Pre 9/11,but I'm sure people would probably be *beep* themselves if they think about it. I agree, that there's nowhere to go. If it goes down, then you better hang on and hope you survive. (Same applies for the rollercoaster. Except some have nets,as a safety procaution. I forgot which one I was on,but it goes at least 70-90 MPH,and it was loaded with nets)
The roller coaster is a pain for me when I go on vacation. I had moments before it's about to start where I'm thinking it's going to crash. I did freak out before the first drop, saying it was going to crash;but my friends calmed me down enough before anything happened. And I love metal coasters that have all the cork screws. I do have moments where I'm worried we'll get stuck. But it's one of those one in a million chances. And the race track thing was nothing. Sure there are accidents that occur there, but it's nothing to panic about. I think you're more likely to have an accident at a baseball game or an orcestra concert.

Haven't seen any of the movies, but the mention of the car pile-up reminded me of a potentially disasterous little thing that actually happened to me:
Driver's Ed, first time on the highway, and it started to rain. Hard...
Nothing horrible happened, but the worst/funniest/most-disgustingly-ironic thing is that the reason the instructor took me out on the highway was because "kids who aren't good at not weaving often do better on the highway.." Oops!
I presume this is because highways are more even than ordinary streets, and maybe the higher speed is supposed to somehow reduce the amount of automatic corrections the brain tries to make.." Yeah - if the motor co-ordination systems that allow such corrections to be made non-consciously actually WORK, perhaps this piece of logic makes sense somehow.. If they don't.. No.
I ended up taking three tries to actually pass the driver's test, and I didn't really "figure out" how to make such corrections non-consciously until a year and a half later after one year of college and after starting an antidepressant.. Something about serotonin and the proper integration of the motor cortex and the vestibular system perhaps?)
I haven't been up to the DMV in months since they always gave me problems over little things, and my anxiety has been another reason for me to avoid the roads, and I don't think I'm going to be put back on medication to take care of that until the fall.
"I'll go,because I am Cinema!" - Ben (Man Bites Dog)
if we're talking about scene in the beginning (with the starting vision) then i'll have to say the car scene in the second. man, i hate going behind semi's to this day. lol but for scene through out the rest of movie, would be in the first, the shower scene. man that scene scared the CRAP outta me.
We're off to go to the island... the wonderful island of lost
For me it would the train crash at the end of FD3. The thought of being underground in an accident is frightening. Also even if you survive the crash you have to deal with being in total darkness underground.
I have to say, the shower scene in the first one really scared the crap out of me. It just seems so eerie that things in your house can just randomly fall and cause your death. It also seems to me that the movie theater exploding was kind of freaky too. It was just so sudden and the flames! AH!
