Not in Top 250?

I love the movie, it is heart wrenching and entertaining, does it belong in the Top 250?

It's definitely better than movies currently in the top 250, but there are so many movies that should be up there that aren't.

I love the people I recognize in this movie I now watch in some of my favorite tv shows, like T.J. Thyne from Bones, or Marg Helgenberger from CSI Las vegas.

you are crazy if you think this should be in the top 250.it was poor and unrealistic, with roberts' boobs making more statements than the actual character.

Depends on how you look at it.

In all of filmdom (over 100 years now), is this one of the 250 best films? No!

Is this film better than some of the films that are on the Top 250 now? Absolutely.

However, I could probably easily list 50 or more movies off the top of my head that could replace some of the more undeseving Top 250 selections before I'd put EB on there.

I really thought this movie was so overrated. Her performance was nothing more than the same sassy character she plays in all of her movies, this time with a dramatic arc around it instead. There was nothing really challenging about this character. In the hands of a more talented actress like Cate Blanchett or Charlize Theron, it could have been something more, but in Julia Roberts' hands, it's nothing special. It's just Julia with a potty mouth and an overworked wonderbra.

And, come on, nominations for Best Picture and Director in a year when High Fidelity, Wonder Boys, Requiem for a Dream, Cast Away, Unbreakable, You Can Count on Me, Almost Famous, Billy Elliot, Quills, hell, even Chicken Run, were released? I'm sorry, but this movie, like Julia Roberts, just got everything handed to her, whether it (or she) deserved it or not, including that undeserved Oscar. Don't believe me, then compare her performance to Gillian Anderson in The House of Mirth, Ellen Burstyn in Requiem for a Dream (the woman who should have won), Laura Linney in You Can Count on Me, Michelle Yeoh in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Renee Zellweger in Nurse Betty or Juliette Binoche in Chocolat. Any one of those women showed more range, either physically or emotionally, than Julia did. But the funny thing is, if it were any other actress, the movie may have been better, but the academy would have completely forgot about it, due to it's March/April release. (Case in point: Wonder Boys)

So, yeah, this movie was always the spoiled rich kid of Hollywood, got all the attention, got all the press, it was wrapped up in a nice little package for everyone to enjoy, but there was no real depth to it. It was like going to prom and already knowing who was going to be crowned the queen. Sorry, but Erin Brockovich is one of the most overrated movies I have ever seen and definitely not deserving to be in the top 250.
