I get that Erin had a 'unique' style of dressing...

But good god almighty, that outfit she wears for her first day, when she's being shown around, is beyond tacky. I can't honestly believe she put on the leather mini, see-through shirt complete with black bra, then looked in the mirror and thought "yeah, this totally says law office".
I wouldn't be a bit surprised to learn that that outfit was rejected from Elizabeth Berkeley's wardrobe in Showgirls for being too tacky...

When you're 17 a cow can seem dangerous and forbidden...am I alone here?

Shiza, I agree. If she wanted to "fit in" she shouldn't have dressed like a tart. I don't know of any kind of professional office where you can dress like that and be considered professional. She did at least put on a jacket for important meetings.

Whatever prudes, she's the one who had a movie done about her and who's now a millionaire.

Go hard and show me that you really want me & maybe I'll give you the time of day...

Sexiest, I am the furthest from a prude you can find. But, unfortunately, it is necessary to fit in at the workplace. Law offices are professional places. But, I tell you what, no matter how she DID dress, the way the others treated her was unbelievable. Their attitudes toward her based on her appearance were much worse than what she did by just dressing inappropriately. I have often wondered if her officemates treated the real Erin like that. If so, good for her for showing them all up, getting big office, $2 million bonus. So, the meanies got theirs!

I see your point but what I was trying to say is that she was so amazing that I couldn't care less about they way she dressed.

I agree 100% and it's one of the many things about her in this movie that irritates me so much. "I'll dress like a hooker if I want, but don't you DARE say I look like one" - that is the attitude I read.

Some of the things she wears to the office, I wouldn't wear to a club and I'm still in great shape for a 40+ year old woman.

Okay, the outfit that really got me was that lime green, sleeveless, polyester turtle neck which left the white bra straps fully exposed. She wore it in the scene where she's walking through some college campus, talking to a professor about acceptable chromium levels in water. Ridiculous.

to/too - their/they're - through/threw...any questions?

I didn’t agree with the way she dressed either and agreed even less with the way she defended it. I don’t care if you have one ass or seven—inappropriate is inappropriate.

I saw the film for the first time last night and even being a middle-aged geezer, I thought most of her outfits were pretty strange for a law office. But isn't that the way the REAL Erin dressed back then? I've never seen any photos of the real lady circa 1993-94, so I can't be sure.

"May I bone your kipper, Mademoiselle?"

I remember seeing the real Erin Brockovich on I think Oprah when this movie first came out. She admitted that she dressed that provocative. She appeared to think nothing was wrong with it. But, one would think that you would have enough common sense to dress more modestly when going to work at a law office.

I'm very liberal minded I that regard most of the time tbh...I don't agree with cat calling or any kind of justification for harassment based on what the person is wearing. I despise the "they were asking for it" argument with a burning passion. With that said, though, a reasonably intelligent thirty something woman KNOWS what is and isn't appropriate for an office setting. Off the clock? Do your thing and I won't judge. Working at a law office? Time for professional game face and nothing else!

Most of her outfit choices were questionable, but I quite liked that white and red dress she wore at the beginning of the film.

well, now..
Just talked about this in another thread.

Had the feeling that Erin and family were strrrreeetching each dollar.

Times like that, an extra load of laundry a week is a hardship.
Dry Cleaning, ah not an option..

What got me:
What I finally realized:

There will always be people who don't know or don't care, about what is "appropriate."

Whenever my guy watches his People's Court or Judge Judy shows...

My mouth hangs open.
Actually not so much now.
Well, now I'm getting used to what I see.
Until the next case starts and then I am amazed again.

I stutter, "W-w-w-wh-what are they thinking?"

The judges don't turn a hair anymore; actually one suspects it's all part of the script.

But I remember going to court = looking as respectable as possible.

Truly, if one goes to traffic court even, most people look...pulled together.

But if one never had to go to places like that, or if they never worked in that environment:

Within that context, people DON'T always know. Makes us realize how much society has changed. People used to be judged and placed by the quality and cut of their clothing.

Now...bit more going on than that.
I used to think that this was terrible; that everyone should just 'know.'

Now I just think it's hard on the person who can't crack the "code."
