Possibly the worst TV Show ever!!!

I am not sure why anyone would want this bile on DVD. A friend of mine actually worked as a runner on the programme and even he thinks its dire. The thing is the whole idea and concept had great potential, but the outcome was and still is nothing other than truly awful. Such a shame, as it could have been so good. The thing now is, whenever people ever mention bad films and/or TV Shows, my wife and look at each other and say in unison "The Last Train". It has absolutely no appeal whatsoever. I'm off to watch "Lost", which although nothing has really happened in the 48 episodes that I have seen, at least there is a remote possibilty that something might happen!!!!

"Possibly the worst TV Show ever!!! "

I think the original Come Dancing was worse.

Perhaps even Crossroads

Completely disagree, the ending might have been a bit of disappointment but the Journey there was fantastic.

It's a shame there isn't more British Sci-fi like it.

Eldorado? Albion Market? Anything on ITV in the last 3 years? C'mon, the worst TV show ever?

First saw it when I was 11 and loved every second of it. Going back and watching again, admitadly the acting gets a little bland from time to time, but the story is still excelent.

One of the things I noticed the second time around is the striking similarities to Lost. A group of people thrown together by circumstance struggle to survive while a group of unknown, almost nomadic assailants stalk them. The usual suspects character wise (One of the group is pregnant, one handy at construction, one has medical experience, one is a parent, a criminal, an officer, Etc.). Underground bunkers, help from a female member of the 'others', children highly saught after... It almost perfectly describes both shows.

And while I do rate both series, I'll still preffer the Last Train every time, as it knew where it was going, and got there with a purpose.

Just had the misfortune of watching this. What a terrible series this was. Terrible acting, unsympathetic characters, boring plot. Films about journey's should be about people overcoming obstacles that have been put in their path. These imbeciles created their own obstacles due to stupidity and arrogance. Hardly a sympathetic character in the bunch. I was actually hoping most of them would die grisly painful deaths, especially the bratty teen son. I was going to give up on this after the first two episodes, but kept watching, hoping it'd get better. Should have trusted my first instinct.

i agree while i disagree.

i agree they "created their own obstacles", this being said .. entering something in search for water or items isn't stupid and arrogant.

then again, these people were just dropped there .. they ARE stupid and ignorant people. Thats why this is great.

Regular people; and i think they way they behave can be called realistic.

I could be the only one, but i didn't find the plot boring..
i was really expecting that they really wouldn't find anything, getting attacked by the dogs once more or something ;)

I thought The Last Train captured quite strikingly the human nature, how we would kill others in order to survive, without any regard for morals or social acceptance. Depressing, yes. But survival is the strongest of primal instincts, so I think the unsympathetic characters were not that far fetched. I did like Austin ("fix us a cuppa, roast some crumpets") a lot though, and the old lady too.
I didn't think the acting was that terrible, but English is not my first language (though I can always tell in Hollywood movies... HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN).
So maybe it wasn't the most brilliant series ever. I still loved it. Maybe not every minute, but it kept me off the street.
BTW wow. If THIS is the worst TV show ever, you must hardly watch any TV at all.

You captured my sentiments almost verbatim. I had downloaded it and couldn't erase it off of my computer fast enough after I finished watching. It was truly god-awful. I knew it by middle of the second episode and, just like you, I kept watching anyway. Only I knew it wasn't going to get better, I just decided to see it through.

Hateful characters: Like you, I wanted most of them to die, especially the boy. Characters were pretty one-dimensional. The writers resorted to stereotypes upon which to paint the characters, which made them 100% predictable, boring, and wholly uninteresting. These weren't people, they were caricatures. I don't think I've met a person yet in real-life who is a living, breathing, stereotype all of the time.

Poorly written. The writers weren't clever enough to think up interesting situations to advance the plot. Instead they resorted to trite devices: One of the kids gets into trouble and needs the group to come to their rescue. Or one of the gang resorts to sabotage for selfish reasons. Same scenario used over and over and over again. No depth whatsoever.

Too long: All filler, little substance. The story dragged on because there was no meat to it. Entire episodes could have been deleted and it wouldn't have changed the overall storyline. Just endless meandering.

Well I enjoyed it as a bit of fluff TV.

I watched every episode of its original run and enjoyed it, and re watched it a few years ago. On second viewing it comes up as being stretched out too much, and they only really had enough worth while story for 3 to 4 episodes. But there were some good moments too it and a dramatic ending.

You may be right. But I still love it.

I enjoyed it very much ! If you like post apocalyptic stuff then just switch ya brain off and enjoy :)

Completely disagree excellent series, loved every minute.Quite an original concept
I thought.Have been trying to get the producers to bring out the series on dvd for years.Along with many others I might add.

Not really no, it was good for it's day, it haunted me when I first watched it, the ending I didn't like though.

Captain Jack:. ‘....Savy’

Great concept, unimaginative execution and bad acting.

One of those series packed with situations they should never have gotten into in the first place. You can see what they need to do, the characters can't, because they are stupid. Very poor writing with constantly contrived conflicts.

That's saying a LOT considering all the crap on television today.
