ending

i remeber watching most of this on t.v years ago and thought it was good but i never saw the last few episodes. can anyone tell me what happened and who if anyone survived

reply

they all died
eaten by an ill tempered mutated seabass.... with lasers on their heads

reply

as you probably know, the 'survivors' were looking for a secret underground centrw where they somehow knew people were still there. but during the series they kept gettin attacked by what they thought were other survivors, but theyd turend into nutters. they eventually get to the underground base they were looking for, and they discover the people that have been attacking them and that they have been trying to run from are in fact the people that were occupying the underground base.

cant quite remember, but i guess when they realised they all decided to love in harmony and start repopulating the earth or something.

can anyone remember if it was just britian ans its surrounding areas destroyed or if it was the whole world?

reply

Apparently the asteroid hit africa and it devestated the whole world!

I loved this programme and cant wait for it to be repeated.

They also discovered they had been in suspended animation for 50-60 years, the people they met were children of survivors.

The Long Walk stops every year, just once.

reply

Actually it was the children of those that survived, not the survivors themselves.

reply

They were the children of the great and the good that were originally put into suspended animation in the ARK facility

reply

yeah, they were the children of the survivors.. all grown up.. and i remember some crucifictions outside arc because they had gone a little crazy and didnt want to let the others in

reply

No "craziness" involved - just some misunderstandings. And maybe some mis-rememberings?

The children of the survivors believed (with good reason from the hints of stillborn babies - including Hild's first child - elsewhere in the script) that THEIR children HAD to be born in the ARK; something like salmon returning to their spawning ground. When the survivors from the train got there before Hild's group, they locked the base down behind them, keeping Hild's tribe out. They crucified Mick and the old guy to force those inside to let them in, so Hild's baby could be delivered in the ARK.

One unexplained mystery remains: just WHY is Hild's baby so important? There are repeated suggestions in the final episode that it's somehow "special", but quite HOW is left hanging.

I just watched all six episodes back to back: MY memory of what happened is as fresh as a daisy!

reply

I don't think Hilds baby was so important but all babies are at this point.

reply

The tribe, children of the original people in the ark, are sterile apart from Hild, and now Roe from the train people. These babies, and any more that the train lot have are the future of mankind, so very special indeed.
