RUTH REGINA SHENBERG GLASSER PANKEN was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 20, 1918 to Joseph and Frieda Rozini. She was the fourth daughter; sisters Adele, Sally, and Florence have all predeceased Ruth. On May 31st, Ruth passed away peacefully in her sleep in Phoenix, Arizona where she had been living with her son and daughter-in-law. Ruth is survived by her son, Harvey and his wife Liz, grandsons Randall and Mitchell, granddaughter Stephanie, adopted grandson, Luis, and great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Savannah, Spencer, Jack, and Morgan, niece Adrienne Aaronson (Neil) and nephew Bruce Behrstock (Phyllis). She is also survived by numerous great nephews and nieces, with whom she was very close and loved dearly. Ruth moved to Miami with her husband, Milton Shenberg, and son in 1947 to work with her parents who owned a beauty and wig salon on Miami Beach. She eventually opened her own beauty and wig salon and was accepted for membership in Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Union 798 New York. She became known as the "Makeup Artist to the Stars" resulting from her vast experience and exceptional talent. Ruth was best known for her work on the Jackie Gleason Show as head makeup artist and hair designer. For twelve years, Ruth directed the makeup and hair for the Miss Universe Pageants and was very proud to say that she did the makeup for six presidents. Ruth was an icon on Miami Beach, well known and respected for her charitable work. She was an exceptional lady, full of talent, joy, and love and will be missed by so many of us. Graveside services will be held for family.
