drugs

love the shot of the doctor falling off his chair at the end...he looks like a fool but makes perfect sense. its very clever how such a sweet and subtle film promotes a correctly relaxed attitude to cannabis use. two fingers to misguided authority.

reply

Nah... It's misguidING authority.

reply

Let's be honest about it - no film ever shows an accurate portrayal of cannabis really. Truth be, it's impossible to accurately portray a drug, but the majority of films don't even try.
OK, Saving Grace was better than most, although I would say that the giggles are always overplayed because it's such a classic, traditional symptom.

Agreed completly

reply

On the other hand people use to get giggles way more often when they first time start smoking.

reply

It reminded me of the mid-60's attitude toward pot in the US. All giggles and fun. A stereotypical, mythical kind of behavior, instead of a more realistic sluggish and dull manner. A little makeup could have gone a long way. When the London "hippie" tried it, I kept waiting for his eyes to half close and glaze over. Also, the joints they were smoking didn't look realistic at all -- always dry, white paper. Haven't the film makers ever seen a good joint get all saturated with resin?

reply

Reality is for people who can't handle drugs...
