Satya vs. Slumdog Millionaire?

Since there are threads comparing Slumdog Millionaire to films like Salaam Bombay and City of God, why not for Satya too?

So which movie did you guys like better? Satya or Slumdog Millionaire?

Personally, I loved both movies, although I thought Satya was better, because I found it grittier, more realistic, and more hard-hitting. It's a shame Satya doesn't seem to be getting much attention on IMDb though.

Glad to see someone is also thinking the way I am. Satya is far far better than Slumdog Millionaire. The only difference is that its not directed by Dany Boyle. I still wonder why they didnt sent the movie for Oscars in the foreign movies category that time. These jury members are nuts. Movie like Satya, Nishabd are piece of arts.

If you talk about realism, Satya owes all. No one can portray characters like RGV did in Satya. You cant say you are watching a movie. Every scene looks real and to die for. Surely my all time favorite movie.

Agreed. In my opinion, Satya is not only the greatest and most influential film ever made about the Mumbai underworld, but also one of the best crime films ever made. It began an entire genre now known as "Mumbai noir", which I believe Slumdog Millionaire is also part of.

Satya has been mentioned quite a few times in relation to Slumdog Millionaire, both at its IMDb board and in the Indian media in general. Despite this, why isn't Satya getting more attention on IMDb?

I was quite surprised to see only ~1600 ppl voted for Satya. Slumdog was not a good movie in my opinion, if it was produced/directed by a bollywood director, it wouldnt have reached where it did. A very overrated movie IMHO. Satya is a category of its own, I saw it in the cinemas and till today cannot forget a single scene from that movie, genius is a small word for RGV and to think he back and made Company??? I wait for every movie that comes out of his camp. Satya defy top of my list of all time best movies.
