The boy from 1949 to whom this happened to.

Anyone know his name/last name or have any info as to what happened to him since the exorcism or what he's doing now?

I'm just curious because i just got done watching a documentary on the discovery channel about exorcisms.

As you can read in the text after the movie, he got married, had children and lived a, what seems to be, a fairly normal life. Since he was around 10 years old in 1949, he is prob. still alive today.

I will do some research on it and come back with more answers if i can:)

The boys real name was John Hoffman. He lived with his parents at Mount Rainier, Maryland by the time of his possession, briefly after his aunts death.
After the events and the exorcisme performed by farther Willaim Bowden, the story was posted in the Warshington DC Newspaper and apparently inspired Peter Blatty to do "The Exorcist". His identity has been hidden from the press in all these years (wich means he has most likely changed his name etc), thus i have not been able to find out wether or not he is alive today.

If you look at the photos from Gonzaga High School's year book 1954.Jon Hoffman is in the picture to the left of Ronald Hunkeler's photo(The real boy).Jon Hoffman's address is listed in S.E Washington D.C. Fairfax Village which is and has always been an apartment complex I should know since I have been there and am from Southeast D.C!Which explains the mistaken identity you made.Ronald's address is listed as 3807 40th Ave,Cottage City,Md which is the correct address. Also it states St. James as the church He attended which is in Mt. Rainier,Md.About a block from the mistaken location of 3210 Bunker Hill Road.Again this is why he was thought to be from Mount Rainier. Both cities are about a mile and a half from each other. It is quite easy to miss them both if you don't pay attention while driving through. Both communities are that small!Jon Hoffman attended St.Francis Xavier's church. You can find Ronald Hunkelers current address He lives in Northern Maryland. He is now 71 Has a son Michael E. Hunkeler of Maryland and possibly a daughter also.

He grew up in Cottage City not Mount Rainer. The priests covered up the fact that he lived in Cottage City. They diverted the location from the actual town the boy lived in simply to protect him. There is much speculation as to whether he was really possessed simply because he exhibited symptoms of a dysfunctional family life from an early age.

It is said he graduated from Goneza High School in 1954 and moved from Cottage City. He lives somewhere on the East Coast though you'll have to do your research on that. I believe his birthdate is June 1, 1935. He was 13 around the time the exorcisms actually occurred.

I read about Mr. Hoffmans life a while ago and barely caught the movie tonight. One intresting tidbit about him is that he has one son named Michael in which he named after the Saint Michael the Archangel.Michael the Archangel led the army of angels that defeated Satan and the demons when they rebelled against God. Because his name means "Who is like God," Pope Saint Gregory the Great said, "Whenever some act of wondrous power must be performed, Michael is sent, so that his action and his name may make it clear that no one can do what God does by his superior power." Pretty trippy aint it ? True story, remember the part where Robbie asks about the statue where the Father suddenly was dizzy ?? That statue was Michael the Archangel !

If you want to know, you should read "Possessed: The True Story of An Exorcism" by Thomas Allen - pretty decent and not expensive at all. I believe at the end of his book, he discovered the identity of the boy who was later on able to carry out a normal life with children. I don't think that person wants to be disturbed by anything related to this. But its a decent read - there is also another book that is a priest's diary of that particular exorcism (also decent).

It's been years since the last post here, but this is what I read:

It claims that that Thomas Allen book is erroneous, and pretty much debunks the whole thing...
