Old post I know, but if you're still around can you give specific examples of how exactly Timothy Dalton's (Bowden) and Jonathan Malen's (Robbie) acting could be described as "horrible" or "amateurish"?

Don't question his authority Sepsism, he's the MOVIE HISTORIAN!!!

What the fark is that anyway??? Like some geeky/nerdy superhero-ish type thing for this person who spends way too much time with his a$$ on the couch therefore in his mind earning the dubious title of movie historian.

"I'm a loser, but I call myself the Movie Historian. I need to get a job and move out of my parents basement."

Seriously tho, I watched this movie for the first time lastnight. In my opinion, I did think that Possessed was better than The Exorcist because this movie was based upon a real event. That made it creepier in my mind. I enjoyed this movie all around.

Thanks for posting. Gave me an opportunity to correct my almost-year-old typos!

But yeah, beware the historian!!!

Personally I didn't think it was as good as The Exorcist or as creepy but it's certainly a quality horror flick even if it is a made-for-TV dealie. I'd have to say the second best "possession" themed flick I've seen (better than Exorcism of Emily Rose that's for sure, and Exorcist: The Beginning IMHO).

I thought it may have been a comedy. The kids voice cussing away with f - uck this and f- uck that was comical because the writers didnt even TRY to create an interesting and scary dialouge for the "devil" to spiel. They probably just told the kid to tell the church to f- uck off over and over again. When they opened the curtains and saw the whole neighborhood staring at them and a baseball bat ready to bust their skulls I had to laugh. Cliched and melodramatic. I turned it off.

You are so right, it was cringe worthy when it wasn't comical. I have read many accounts of this actual exorcism and they got a lot of details wrong, which I could have overlooked if the writing and the acting hadn't been so horrible. I am a Timothy Dalton fan but he couldn't save this crap.

I agree it was crap

Your spelling and grammar "stank" worse than the movie buddy! You sir, are an amateur when it comes to expressing your feeble minded thoughts into words.....perhaps you are only seven years old which would explain a lot!

Have to agree there. I can't even finish it. The red-head kid who looks nothing like either parent? (Ok, maybe mom had similar hair but the actress is no Ellen Burstyn.) I had no empathy for him and the rest of the actors were sleepwalking through their roles. Dullsville, man.
