I agree it is the best of the films.

I'd say it is also the most relevant in today's world.

And it had Mariette so some bonus points there.

Aye it's now favourite one, fantastic action, fantastic emotional scenes and excellent acting all round

I didn't think this one was very good. Retribution is still the best IMO.

The Wrong War is my favourite episode of this film series. Largely because it offers an intimate picture of the backside of The Revolution. The French nobleman returning to his village and seeing how things have denigrated and his strong reaction to it. The peasants taking over his House and using textbooks as lifters for the table puts the Royalist officer in a temper. It was the peasants' disregard for the books scholastic value that upset the Colonel.
No wonder he began chopping off heads.

You really think that disrespecting books merits the death penalty? What set him chopping off heads was that the peasants forgot what he considered "their place", and made "his" society their own and wouldn't give him unconditional obedience anymore. What upset him so much was that his aristocratic system was dead and the French people were making their own society in which he couldn't rule and essentially own the peasants because of his bloodline and aristocratic title anymore. What outraged him was that he couldn't treat the peasants like animals with impunity anymore, because the people had risen up and wouldn't take his oppression anymore.

The moment at the end where that bloody aristocrat got dragged to the guillotine by the peasants was probably my favorite scene in this whole series.
