Ridiculous episode. Honor my ass!
I can not believe that the prison commandant actually let Horatio go on walks with the Cobham for hours everyday - let alone unguarded - merely on the promise on his word he wouldn't escape. What the f_uck? In what era or universe would this ever happen? It's as if the commandant wanted him to escape giving him so many blatant opportunities and means to escape.
The ending too was just utter crap. Did Horatio and his men seriously return to their captors after they had beaten the odds by surviving that sea storm and got rescued by the Indefatigable because Horatio promised to the commandant he wouldn't? And Pellew allowed them to? o_o
I've actually liked this series so far but this episode was just mind-bogglingly ridiculous and stupid. Was honor really so "honored" to this extent during that time? The only thing that seemed a bit believable for me is that the commandant actually let Horatio and his men attempt to rescue the Spanish men from that grounded ship. I prefer historically-based fiction to still retain an element of realism. ._. I can believe the honorable gentleman's war to an extent but this is just ridiculous. I mean Horatio can bend the rules of war by donning French colors but he can't break his word to the enemy? Then the Spanish actually release Horatio and his men - their enemies during a state of war? This just screams complete bulls_hit.
