A Magical Gem...

I fell over this little gem on YouTube just recently, quite by accident. At the outset, I was only going to watch a minute or two of it, but I found myself being drawn into it's simplistic and ethereal beauty.

It only runs a little over an hour, and (this version) is without any sort of subtitles. I do not speak Russian (with the possible exceptions of "Nyet" and "Da"), but I found it easy enough to follow.

Young Lina Braknyte, who plays Vika, steals every scene that she is in, and has a surreal quality of presence for one of such tender years.

I would rank this imagery and simple storyline up there with the classic Greek "Young Aphrodites" (Mikres Afrodites) from a year earlier, in 1963.

As I said at the outset, a Magical Gem!
