Completely confused - where + when is it based??

I watched this film on late night TV last night - SO funny! I don't think it was meant to be funny, but it was just so bad is was great.

BUT ... I have NO idea when it was supposed to be set or where!

In terms of time, Dolph is in fatigues driving shiny new looking jeeps suggesting modern day, the rebels are wearing what look like cloth shoes, leather arm wrists & 'peasant' style clothes suggesting - I don't know! maybe medieval times, the baddie soldiers sometimes looked to be wearing storm trooper / SS outfits (!!) suggesting 1940's. Very odd!

In terms of where its meant to be set - goodness only knows! There's the fabulously teutonic & scandinavian looking Dolph, there's the Asian general and our heroine, there are some slavic looking characters, Dolph's soldier buddy is quite obviously a gung ho American & then the rebel leader is from somewhere in the midlands / north of England!

Does anyone have ANY idea where or when its supposed to be set? :o)

Dude, don't you get it? Some films are made because the directors feel like taking a simple concept and created a twisted vision. This movie by Issac Florentine, I feel was basically a fairy tale/action/end of days tribute to pop culture freaks like me, who would notice and understand the concepts and how they were twisted and turned. I can't say this enough on this board, there are movies they are not made for the normies/regular joes. This movie is for pop culture fanatics, no offense.

As said it's in a place where "the future meets the past" so don't try to find any date or clear geographical spot...

I always figured it was a post apocalyptic thing. Never really gave it much thought.

I assumed they took what was in the bin at the movie studio and went with that. The titel does not make any sense whatsoever either, it has some confusing explanation in the beginning but who the hell cares, it's a fun shoot em up. one of the better and probably the best late 90's early 00 Dolph movies

I agree. There are a lot of silly things about this movie, but the different races it the least bothersome.
