What's so distrubring about this is...

What's so disturbing about this was that it was a TV show made for kids, yet Robocop the movie was rated 18/R-17, FOR 18 year olds. So the networks must have assumed every 6-12 year old had seen the movie?!!

The movie was called "RoboCop", the show was called "RoboCop", the last time I checked kids liked both "Robo's" and "Cops".

There wasn't a cartoon but there sure were toys and videogames. It was pretty common in the 80s for cartoons and toys to be based off of PG-13 and r-rated movies. It was a strange time to be a kid. At 6 years old, I loved and watched everything from Care Bears and Zoobilee Zoo to Beverly Hills Cop, Die Hard and Nightmare on Elm Street.

Still got my fingers crossed, waiting for Judas Contract to get green-lit

Robocop: The Animated Series was the first cartoon to ever be based on a movie never intended for children. (Rambo is another franchise)

Rambo was THE FIRST cartoon to be based on something not intended for kids, being released in 1986, and the RoboCop cartoon coming out in 88.
