what does this movie consist of, like what acts are depicted, is it really as graphic as they say it is?

real penetrations, oral sex (m on f, f on m), bondage, S&M

yes it is graphic, but the movie itself is boring.

if you're into seeing graphic actions, watch Baise-Moi.

I just watched Baise-Moi, and this movie (of course this is just my opinion) is ten times better. The thing I love about Catherine Breillat is that there is true meaning in her work. She uses her philosophies and theories along with the sexual explicitness (is that even a word? Oh well, it is now). Baise-Moi's sexual explicitness is only used to show how bad these girls are, which I don't think is really neccesary. Now if you want to see killing and porn watch Baise-Moi. If you want to see a certain woman's feelings toward sexual situations watch Romance. Basically the difference is that Romance has alot to do with the script and alot to do with talking. The Conversations are what's important and the sexual explicitness furthers that. Baise-Moi's sexual explicitness furthers nothing. So it just depends on what you are looking to get out of the movie.

This movie reminded me of those low budget, soft-core porn movies of the mid 1990s--silly, somewhat perverse flicks usually starring Andrew Stevens. But...this being "French Cinema," and I use the term very loosely, it is full of boring dialogue and vivid imagery. Yes, it is graphic and would be NC-17 here in the US. The star gives a fairly boring oral job to her boyfriend, twice. There's a scene supposed to make us think she's getting an oral job herself and a 45-second rear-end rape from a hot French Algerian. There's an incredibly perverse scene involving a strange bondage/glory-hole for women carousel that only the Marquis de Sade could think up featuring several fully erect men. I doubt if any of the sex scenes were real--great camera angles, but they were all a bit too predictable.

I think you're all used to the American porn *beep* The ones where a blowjob is "not boring", but very allegro and dubbed with appropriate sound of course. Come on!!! You can't know whether it's boring or not because you can't know what the man felt in those moments. Maybe it wasn't boring at all. Have you got any idea how YOU look during sex? Is it boring?
