Wasn't this movie called Safe?
When I saw it a while back I think it was called Safe or Save. Can anyone verify that or not?
This could be my chance to bond and become a valued member of the family

Nope, not the same movie.
shareAll I know is that the title "Panic" makes no sense. The lead character was flustered a bit, but NEVER panicked. He was calm and in control from beginning to end and always acted as a true professional, even when his life was not going as he hoped. I kept waiting for some panic mode to take over, but it never did. Otherwise, a great and unique storyline.
shareYour own description reveals your confusion - you say that he was "in control from beginning to end" but acknowledge that "his life was not going as he hoped." If he was really in control of his life, it would be going the way he wanted it to. Panic doesn't have to refer to twitchy fingers and nervous eyes - for this movie it refers to a deep feeling of unrest as Macy's character realizes he is unhappy with almost every aspect of his life. This feeling is accentuated especially as he sees his father doing to his son all the things that resulted in Macy's current unhappiness. The "panic" isn't a stockroom panic, it's a slow dawning that is eventually more powerful.

The "panic" comes at the end when Macy's character realizes his dad crossed the line and was trying to turn his son into a killer too. His reaction was one of panic. He knew his dad had to be stopped and killing him was the only way.
By the time he gets to the dad's house he is strangely calm but that is only because he knows what he is about to do, which is solve the problem once and for all.
