I just saw this movie for the first time and I was absolutely amazed with it! I thought that it had fabulous acting (go neve!) and the plot kept me interested. This is DEFINIITLEY (sp?) one of my FAVORITE movies of ALL time!

I agree that this movie was fantastic! I thought it was well acted, and the pacing was just right, not too slow. I don't think I could call it one of my favourites, but it's pretty darned good. Neve is beautiful :)

I though the movie was great. I saw it a few days ago on HBO and I really enjoyed it. William H Macy has always been one of my favorite actors, and Neve Campbell has never been better. One of the best-underrated films to come out in a while.

I totally agree! This film was really amazing. Of course I agree about the greatness of Neve because I adore her, but even if I had never heard of her before watching this I definatly would have been completely smitten. I'm so happy to not waste more money on another crappy rental.

shareBromwell is not a good writer of dialogue. The dialogue in this film is cliche and unnatural. His direction was average, although his weakness is directing actors, which caused the performances on the whole to be shaky and unconfident. The cinematography was the strength of this piece, although, there were some beautiful scenes. Like most anything else, this film had its moments. It's on my list of films I like, and I think I will like it more the more I see it, but for right now, I'm feeling disappointed (I just finished it a minute ago).

i thought the performances were totally on the money. some of bill macy's dialog sounds unnatural, but that's because alex is wound to the snapping point. neve's a bit shaky, but that's her character. everyone else seems quite natural to me, and the kid was just wonderful. looks to me like the director just turned a cast of highly skilled actors loose and they created very real characters in an impossibly stressful situation.
I thought the best performance the guy who played William H. Macy at age 17

I thought the movie was amazing , the acting and the directing was great and the kid, David Dorfman deserved an academay award. He was the best kid actor I have ever seen.

I`ve watched it on TV and it was a big SURPRISE.....!
Maybe the ending is bit weak but in general the story is really GREAT...!!

Yes, I agree. I just saw it last night. I was blown away. It is a low-key superb movie made even better by a great cast. It was a rare 5/5 for me on Netflix and an 8/10 here in IMDb.
