Bold, Ugly and Honest

It would be interesting to see the original optical presentation of this film - the version I saw on Amazon was a few copies out and a very low-quality encoding. That hurts it, I think, it was actually well-shot, effectively lit, the audio was good. But it looks pretty blurry on Amazon and I must wonder how much more terrifying those theater "dressing room" scenes would have been with the original film. This was shot on color film, right? Much was lost in the conversion to video, and certainly to the streamed Amazon version.

The "acting" was passable, but the script was a little bloated. It needed less dialogue. Still, this film went places I've not seen on film before, and it's not just B-movie crap, there was solid truth about the gay underworld here. The villain (Malcolm Moorman) was as believably nasty as they come.

This was a good effort. It's obvious it didn't cost a lot, but I'll give an "8".
