just a warning for anyone who uses netflix--their copy is the Rated R version. (ugh)

I suppose you think I'm going insane just to be fashionable.

reply

I just got it from Netflix. The entry on the website does indicate the R-rated version, but the version I've received has no rating on the disc... and... there is a graphic shot of the cop in a state of ... umm... excitement, pulling off a condom. That did NOT look R-compliant to me. I haven't gotten any further, mainly because the acting and dialog are completely laughable.

RIP CAGE: The Scene Maker

The version that runs on the here! cable network contains the semi-erect shot and also has some graphic anal sex simulation plus lots of other frontal nudity that I think would almost certainly be NC-17.

reply

Does anybody know if the unedited, NC-17 version of the DVD still exist? No, the movie's not perfect by any means, but you'll never see a major studio give this kind of subject matter the brutally honest treatment it got here, and I'm sorry if the filmmakers were never able to raise the funds needed to continue the story...

The sequels were written and went into preproduction a number of times. But numerous financial problems kept them from actually filming them. One day perhaps.
The dvd is off the market until next year due to unscrupulous distributors, but an anniversary issue is due out late 2013 or early 2014.

Good news, as yes - it was not a great movie...but definitely deserves to be out there for people to enjoy. Thanks. Hopefully, any time now!
