The restrictions of a low budget film.

I love indies and did enjoy watching this, though it was weak in spots and plodding in others.

I had to cringe each time I saw one of the outdoor scenes. For budget purposes, I guess, they had to minimize the number of extras. Montreal looked completely empty. The scene at the start where the cab is on an empty road and stops at a deserted intersection to be serviced by a squeegee kid was priceless. To see a downtown Montreal street so deserted (yet have a squeegee guy, who should normally haunt the busiest intersection) made me both cringe and smile. Yeah, guys, I know the bind you were in. You must have filmed that at 5am in the summer when everyone's asleep.

The other one was how the bit players were written to be mute or absent whenever possible. Again cringeworthy & laughworthy when Luka tries to buy cigarettes, and the cashier has to move the transaction along without any words. Cuz, y'see, the rules are different and much more expensive if the "actor" has a line; even a word.

I feel your pain, I feel your pain! It's tough to budget for, say, $1 million, and then only half the funding comes in.
