The show really changed it's gears...

The show in it's earlier seasons could be frightening at times with creepy tones (especially the 2002 season). But also had convincing romances, scandals and complex characters with some silliness thrown in too.

Then by about 2003 the show started to change its tone. By the later seasons it became overly silly with shallow characters, highly unconvincing relationships and all previous elements of ''horror'' in the show were removed. The show just died after that. What a shame.

Yeah I think the show fell off right around when the actor who played Timmy died in real life. I also remember around 2002 being its prime.

I've been going through the show for the last 10 years on YouTube, fairly casually, and I'm up to January 2004. I've already noticed since the longest night ever (Theresa, Ethan, Gwen, Whitney, Chad, Fox all in LA) in second half 2003, the pacing of the show has changed a little bit at the end of 2003 going into 2004. Days are much shorter and so are the nights, compared to most of 2003. It seems much more accelerated.

When Theresa left for LA, Little Ethan was a baby. When she got back, he was a Toddler, yet only 2 or 3 nights actually passed while they were in LA. It's so wacky.

As for Sheridan, I'm annoyed more than ever that she is always in distress. For crying out loud, can she just have a peaceful day? I really hope they tone down on it, but right now I'm not thinking so.
