I've felt sorry for almost every character at one point or another. I'll try to narrow it down to the top five.

1. Pilar Lopez-Fitzgerald: Unsure if her husband, Martin, is dead or alive. Forced to work a crazy amount of hours to support her family. Unsure of where her son, Antonio, disappeared. Pilar simply lit candles and said prayers for Martin and Antonio's safe return. Plus, she couldn't afford to take care of her youngest daughter, Paloma, and was forced to send her to live with her sister in Mexico. Finally, when Martin does return she finds out he ran off with Katherine Crane and has been in love with her. She also thought, at one point, that Antonio died in a plane crash. She had a rare blood disease. Also, she was raped by her best friend, Juanita's, husband and accidentally killed him in self-defense. Pilar has had the worst luck yet she always trusted God.

2. Juanita Vasquez: Yes, Juanita was a psycho. But I sympathize with her because she only turned to the dark side because of tragedy. After having her best friend, Pilar, visit she leaves to run an errand only to return to find her whole family murdered--her innocent children dead by police gunfire. Why were the police called? Because Pilar was reporting Juanita's husband's death after killing him in self-defense for raping her. Juanita blames Pilar and wastes her life plotting revenge against her and taking over Carlos' drug cartel. She's left a shell of a woman. Left only with pain and sadness and what ifs.

3. Simone Russell: She simply wanted to be loved and hoped, at one point, that Chad would love her. She couldn't compete with her sister, Whitney, though. Finally, she eventually had the courage to come out of the closet and reveal she's lesbian. She finds true love with a woman named Rae whom she plans to spend the rest of her life with. Her dreams are shattered when Rae is murdered by no one other than her half-brother, Vincent. Simone never really recovered from that loss.

4. Chad Harris Crane: Chad came to Harmony desperately searching for his birth family. He met Whitney and fell in love only later to learn that she could be his sister after they became pregnant with son, Miles! Chad loved Whitney with his whole heart and soul and knew no other woman could ever compete so he turned to his bisexual side and started sleeping with Vincent who is actually his half-nephew! He later learns he and Whitney are not blood related but loses her again when she discovers his on-going affair with Vincent. When it looks like Chad and Whitney could reunite he's brutally murdered by his own father, Alistair. He never even got to have a reunion with his bio mom, Liz.

5. Charity Standish: Innocent, the essence of goodness, Charity was always being taken advantage of by the dark side. Her mother, Faith, is murdered by Tabitha. She learns Miguel and Kay slept together (never knowing it only happened because Kay used Charity's essence) and that Kay is pregnant--all of this on her wedding day! She also was frozen in a block of ice while a zombie version of herself destroyed her reputation! Then, when she's trying to make it work with Miguel, she's told by Death that she has to leave Miguel and Harmony or stay and allow baby Maria to die. She leaves the love of her life, Miguel, in one of the most heartbreaking scenes.

Thanks for your reply I'm reading everything you read and then you threw me off with Juanita. I didn't watch Passions when it first started I'm trying to catch up on youtube. When I started watching Passions it was the episode where Grace closet had a evil whirlpool or something going on. Then when the show went to Direct I lost connection with the show and wasn't able to keep up with the show anymore.

You right about Pilar she has had a bad situation. On to Chad ok I'm confused now before Passions went to Direct I remember Chad was with some guy and was gay. Around that time I wasn't keeping up with the show as much because I was working full time. Ok so Vincent is Simone and Whit half brother...ok got that. Now Chad is Liz bio son, wouldn't Vincent be Chad cousin? Vincent wouldn't be his nephew.

reply

Yeah, Pilar and Juanita's storyline took place when Passions moved to DirecTV. The DirecTV episodes were great, they were able to be a lot more risque.
Haha, as far as Chad and Vincent's relation goes they are uncle-nephew and first cousins. They're uncle-nephew because Chad's father is Alistair. Alistair raped Liz and she became pregnant with Chad. That makes Julian and Chad half-brothers and Chad an uncle to Julian and Eve's hermaphrodite child, Vincent. If that's not bizarre enough consider that Vincent tapped into his female side by becoming Valerie and seducing and getting pregnant by his/her own father, Julian! Ya gotta give Passions credit for being twistedly creative and original! ;)

Ok wow....I got it now. That was a head spin....my Lord that is crazy. I want to shake the writers of Passions hands for coming up with this mess that is creative.

Their lives were either destroyed by evil people, lies and secrets that were not necessarily their own doing. Good people whose lives got shattered by the circumstances they found themselves in.

reply

I think you made a mistake there. Gwen was an evil person who killed her own children and kept lies and secrets from her own devious doing. She hurt and killed Sarah, destroyed Theresa and Ethan's life, and was willing to kill her own son Jonathon, JUST to keep Ethan. Gwen was never on the receiving end of evil, she was the ultimate evil person who destroyed (and killed) so many lives.

If I remember correctly, Gwen didn't "kill" Sarah. She attacked Theresa for her endless schemes trying to win Ethan the loser for herself, causing Gwen to miscarry. In my opinion Theresa was by far the more evil person. Gwen and Ethan were happy until Terror came into the picture and pretended to befriend Gwen for the sole purpose of landing Ethan for herself. I'm not saying that Gwen didn't become a total b*itch after awhile but I couldn't blame her either. In my opinion she should have just let Terror have that boring loser and gotten herself a real man.

Why do they call 'em soap operas anyway? Those things are FILTHY!----Fred Sanford

1. Theresa for having her life destroyed for almost a decade due to evil psycho baby killer villain Gwen and kept from her soulmate due to an evil woman Gwen who Ethan never loved.

2. Pilar for lighting a candle for Martin every night and not knowing at that moment he was with another woman and that is why she had no money.

3. Grace - self-explanatory. But, I did get annoyed with her for her anger with Sam. A he had no reason to tell Grace he used to be with Ivy, I mean, what was the point? And B he had no idea he had a son, so why be mad at Sam? He was as much a victim as Grace and Ethan.

4. Charity since she was truly a good person who would never have hurt anyone and like Theresa, had her life destroyed by a selfish evil villain Kay.

Probably more that I can't think of now. Sheridan would have been 5th, if it weren't for the way she treated Luis over Marty being kidnapped and dated that Booth guy and others over Luis.

To be completely honest, I never really sided with most of the good on this show lol. My guilty pleasure was supporting the bad characters. Or maybe I just never really liked the "good" characters.

I mainly felt sorry for Theresa and Kay, I felt like they actually put in effort, whereas Charity and Gwen just showed up and were adored by their respective boyfriends.

Admittedly, I did feel sorry for Pilar and Sheridan. Pilar's kids were obsessive weirdos and Sheridan - just, poor Sheridan.

This may seem weird for me to write, but I always felt sorry for Kay - She was so unloved. The black sheep of her family, treated poorly by her mother and rejected constantly by the man she loved for her thin, blonde cousin. Of course this pity mostly relates to the ''Kay'' from the 2001-2003 season of the show - the actress that played her made the character sympathetic. It almost seemed like the Kay character had an extreme version of a ''borderline personality disorder''.

Sheridan. Always in trouble, always in distress, never a peaceful day, "my baby this, my baby that", kidnapped, shot at, almost murdered over and over again, left for dead over and over again, lived in a pit for months, blah blah blah. Everything in the world that has happened to someone in a lifetime, happens to Sheridan ten times over in the span of a year and then some.
