So in comes Zoe Ball to occupy the chair. I know the Beeb have got to get value for money from their big earners, and to be fair Zoe is slightly less annoying than Claudia.

But this is another nail in the coffin for a 45 year old programme that has gradually descended into something that is hard to watch.

Danny Leigh as ever is the only reason to watch. I'd have him, Antonia Quirke and Mark Kermode as the permanent team in a move to a more serious film review/discussion show.

The Beeb long ago shunted it to a late night slot so it can't be worried about audience figures. Can we please try a proper terrestrial channel film programme now?
