I believe Reese was correct, 8 students were murdered *Spoilers*

Remember, at the end of the first film it was revealed what we were watching was just story being told by some college guy, not what actually happened. Brenda confirms this when she says he didn't tell it right. Because Reese says 8 students were murdered, this would mean that Professor Wexler and Dean Adams were not killed, Natalie and Paul were, so the body count of the first film would actually be

1. Michelle
2. Damon
3. Tosh
4. Parker
5. Radio Assistant (Killed in the background, behind Sasha)
6. Sasha
7. Natalie
8. Paul

I'm pretty sure that it was just a continuity error on the screenwriters' part. In the orignal's ending, one guy says that Natalie is his old roommate's cousin, implying she's still alive. Also, while I do like these movies, I think that the ending was just meant to be a sequel hook.

Those kids were just being sarcastic to the guy telling the story, as they didn't believe him. Actually, in the commentary on the dvd, the director says (this is my edited version of what he says)the ending is suppose to show that what we were watching was just one persons version of the story, and Brenda was there to say he got it wrong, and was missing the details. It didn't happen that way and the story was embellished to be something else. Which is what happens with these urban legends anyway.

I hate to think they were killed. We would need some survivors for a part four of it ever is green lit and I thought those two would be perfect for the opening credits as the babysister & the man upstairs legend.
