Outstanding Movie

I really loved the symbolism in the relationship between Ryu and Hee's relationship of South and North Korea. It was an all around great movie and another Kang Je-Gyu masterpiece. I give it 10/10.

I think this movie really captured the spirit of how many of the South Koreans with whom I've spoken feel about the situation in their country. The movie felt genuine and personal, which a lot of Hollywood films seem to lack. Along with JSA, this is my favorite Korean movie.

The symbolism was beautiful, I totally agree. I didn't enjoy the rest of the movie :(

Definately one of my all time favorites. So tragic and sad.

I truly loved this movie. Though the opening scene was truly confusing...
It had the perfect blend of action, conspiracy, love, and betrayal. It truly had a good story to it. As a korean myself I truly do believe this movie represented the views of the Koeran people.

Same here. I really fell in love with it. Good cast, script, action and ost which I hopelessly try to get.

I walked out after an hour. The characters and the situations were ridiculous and the symbolism was far from profound. The only reason anyone goes for this stuff is because they enjoy hating Hollywood, or they just like in-your-face action and violence. I did appreciate the Abbott and Costello-esque humour involved in keeping the names straight. "Who's he?....She's the assassin... No, the one in the picture with Yu.... that's Lee.... No, I know who Lee is, I'm asking you who HE is..... then go ahead and ask... I just did.... what did he say?.... I never talked to Hee, she's missing..... No, Yu... I'm right here.... The other Yu... Park?.... What the hell's he doing there?.... Where's Hee?.... You just said at the park... When did you talk to him?.... when did Yu talk to who?.... you!"

I also think this is an excellent movie. It has a few week spots - the capture of the truck at the end of the tunnel and the N. Koreans avoiding getting shot while the S. Korean agents get hit way too often, but other than that the acting is top-notch, the story is great (planting the bugs in fish - amazing idea), the romantical chemistry is very strong, you feel sad when both the sidekick agent and the woman die, and the meetings with the lady at the hospital emphazied how much the female agent really was a good person and that the male agent loved her (with very touching music)! I genuinely cared for the characters and felt their internal conflicts. Frankly, the think this is better than any of the James Bond films and right up there with the best action films of all time, especially since it adds a great story and strong emotions. 8.5/10

I only gave it an 8 due to a lack of originality and action scenes that reminded me of stormtroopers trying to shoot Han Solo, but other than I agree with you 100%. This movie was great. I'm VERY glad I rented it.
