Sarah's Costuming

For a long time I thought I was going to be an unclaimed treasure like Sarah and the aunts and now I am off on my own adventure to a cold part of our country with my own Jacob. After seeing Winter's End for the umpteenth time, I noticed that Sarah has the most enchanting vest/sweater on with it somehow wrapped around her waist. Are there any knitter's out there who can tell me how to make it? It would be so fun to have the vintage pattern and make it in the colors of the prairie and the sea but I have looked all over the web to no avail. Help!

If you ever hear from anyone about the vest, would You please send me a private message? I would love to find the directions too.

If you have had no luck, and if you are willing to pay for it, you might find a seamstress that would watch a few scenes of her with the sweater on that could create a pattern for you and/or make it for you.

Just a thought!

Hi, this seems to be a once a year thread. *L* The vest was knitted, so it would be a knitting pattern needed. But that is still a good idea. There are knitting clubs with very talented knitters who can draft patterns . So thanks for the thought.

It appears to me to be just a wide scarf wrapped around her body. It goes across her waist, crosses her back, and comes over her shoulders and the ends get tucked under the part across her waist. The problem comes in finding a scarf that is long enough (I just tried to replicate the way Sarah was wearing it and I don’t have any scarves that are long enough).

Good luck though.

Knitting is very big now and there are so many beautiful yarns to be had.

You can learn from videos, or your local yarn shop, or classes now and then at the library. Then you can have exactly the right length, width and color to flatter your figure.

I'll have to try to catch it again, because i thought it was a vest, but i'm going to try your way, see how i like it. Thanks
