Sue Ellen was originally played by Kitty Sullivan---NOT Cindy Williams. Why didn't they bring the REAL Sue Ellen back? Anyone know?

I'm not sure if she was asked, but declined or not even asked. IMDB shows her to have last worked in the industry in 1980.

Recasting reccuring, but not regular, characters happens all the time in reunion movies. Ed Begley Jr. becomes Whitey in "Still the Beaver"; Connie Stevens becomes Thelia Menninger in the Dobie Gillis reunion. In that last case there was probably no way on earth that Tuesday Weld would have agreed to do it.

Kitty Sullivan was on a folk music tour at the time of filming, so she was unavailable and Cindy Williams was brought to play Sue Ellen.
