i recall this being a disappointment because it was such a big deal. i forget, do they ever actually meet in this film or just swap eras?

There was a movie about that! It involved some whacky time travel for the Flintstones so they could come forward in time, and that's when we learn the Jetsons are living exactly where the town of Bedrock used to be! Seeing as it was a cartoon, hilarity ensued.
