Its been deleted and not on VHS or DVD. If you come across a old copy please share. This is what the Beeb say:

Dear Michael

Thank you for your e-mail.

I was pleased to read of your interest in the BBC and can inform you that you were correct that both 'Glitterball' and 'Phase IV' were broadcast on the BBC.

'Glitterball' was broadcast in 1983, 1986 and 1987, while 'Phase IV' was broadcast in 1984 and 1986.

There are no plans at present to repeat these films. However, please be assured that I have registered your interest with our programme planners, and although nothing is scheduled at the moment, it is always possible that a repeat might be arranged for a later date. If it is decided to repeat these movies details will be printed in the Radio Times and on our TV listings websites

It's on YouTube, just watched it again yesterday :)

For some reason this film haunted me for years because I couldn't remember the film title, I remember seeing it one morning when I was home sick from school, it must have been either the '86 or '87 broadcasts...I forgot about it for a couple of years but ever since I was a teenager it has popped back into my mind every now and again...eventually I thought to look for it on the internet a couple of years ago and somehow I managed to find it somehow with only "kids movie shiny ball bearings space" as search terms but I couldn't find it to download anywhere...then I remembered it again just recently and mentioned it on my FB page, a friend sent me the YT link and I watched it...

...I doubt children today would watch more than 5 minutes of it...it's not very good but for sentimental and nostalgic reasons it was like finding a missing part of my childhood...one of my favourite things about the internet and many many thanks to all the people who upload stuff like this and allow others to have a trip down memory lane :)
