check out the voting history (theres a link on the main page) There is a break down of who has voted for what and how high. most of the females in every category have voted substantially higher than the males of the same categories.
do ya think its because females have better/worse perceptions of the film or becuase of the stars like sean bean and the kinda black comedy and sex stuff appeals to females alot more??
Your post was the most inane and irrational post I've ever read in my life. First of all "Essex Boys" is NOT a "chick flick" - women usually want to watch a Julia Roberts, Jennifer Anniston romantic comedy or a Merchant/Ivory art house film with the likes of Emma Thompson and Anthony Hopkins. I had to be dragged kickin' and screamin' to watch "Essex Boys" because my boyfriend wanted to see it.....lots of psycopaths, sociopaths, thugs throwing acid into the faces of drug dealers, rape, domestic violence, battered women, strangling innocent women whilst simultaneously forcing drugs up her nose, dumping her naked, raped dead body in the Canvey Marsh Island......this is the plot of Essex Boys and women do not want to watch that crap.
O.K. Sean Bean was in the film and yes he is a shag-a-delic hunk quite snoggable. He's a wicked sexy bloke - but that's not enough of an enticemetn to watch a bunch of sociopathic thugs beat each other up in this movie.
But if women voted for the film - it is probably because on Election Day more women vote than men - same reason why women do more volunteer work than men, and if you lost your wallet and a man picked it up, he'd see if it had any money then toss it in the trash - but if a woman picked up a lost wallet she'd find the owner and give it back to them.
No women don't prefer the "sex stuff" in this movie because it was repulsive rape sex - and the "black comedy" doesn't appeal to women because it wasn't really that funny.
If more women are voting in the history it is because perhaps we are thoughtful enough to take the time to do it. I used to do marketing research with consumers and if you approach men to be in a Focus Group unless they are getting paid for it they won't bother to fill out the survey or do the interview....but if you are asking women to volunteer to do the Focus Group and do interview surveys they will do it for free just to be helpful and give their opinion.s
I'm not a female chauvnist nor am I a male basher but that post is so silly and sexist about how he thinks women think and behave. Its good manners to vote on the movie poll - and not because as you allege women are either "Stupid or Intrigued".

how can you not be entertained by real life? because that is all that the film is portraying! things like that and worse happen every day of the week
I'm not sure what Colleen is talking about and I'm not sure why she's speaking for all women. I'm a girl and I do like romantic comedies, but I also grew up with nothing but guys, so I love action and gangster films. When I was little my favorite film was Goodfellas, so obiviously just like men, woman have varying taste and don't just prefer chick flicks.
I'll admit when Bean's beating Kingston at the party it was kind of hard to watch, but nothing in this movie was OMG terrible (maybe it's my American desensitization?). I've seen a lot worse.
Oh and there are women that get turned on by scenes like the rape scene. I'm not sure why, but it has to do with some inate fantasy. I'm sure you can Google plenty of psychological studies on it (Colleen). And I'm sure it didn't hurt that it was Bean in that scene.
