Leah and Marcus call the police and go to Dorothy's apartment. She is gone and there is practically nothing left in the place but a few photos and papers. When they try to trace Dorothy through her social security number they find out she stole the identity of the real Dorothy McIntyre, so there is no way to trace her. But Leah looks at the photo, compares it to Robin's scrapbook and realizes it is a photo of Amelia from the summer camp. They realize "Dorothy" is Amelia's mother and has kidnapped Robin.
Meanwhile, Robin awakens in a strange bedroom. The door is locked and there are bars on the window. "Dorothy" enters the room and calls her Amelia and says that she is Gretchen, her mother.
Leah and Marcus go to the summer camp, but it is closed for the season. They break in and finally locate the name and address of Amelia's mother. They call the police, who tell them to wait - but they aren't about to wait. Meanwhile, Robin keeps insisting to Gretchen that she isn't Amelia. Gretchen lights a candle and makes a scratch mark on it, saying that if she doesn't start admitting who she really is by the time that candle burns to that mark, she will be punished.
Driving to Gretchen's house, Lean admits she took the job out of town so that they'd all have a better life, but now all she cares about is them being a family together. Meanwhile, the candle has burned down to the mark and Robin still won't admit to being Amelia. Gretchen takes a medal (or something) and heats it in the flame. Just as she approaches Robin with it, Marcus and Leah burst into her house. Gretchen grabs Robin and won't let them near her, saying she once thought her sister was dead, but she came back as her daughter Amelia. Now, she thought her daughter Amelia was dead but she has come back again. The police arrive and assure Gretchen that no one is taking her daughter away. But the moment they separate Gretchen and Robin, they let Robin run to her parents and they arrest Gretchen. Unable to accept what is happening, Gretchen pretends Amelia is playing hide and seek and as she is led off and taken away keeps playfully saying she'll find her. Meanwhile, Leah insists she meant what she said earlier. She's quitting her job so the three of them can be a family together.
