Salty, sexy and entertaining film

Still one of the finest football films made in the last 10 years. Part of this comes from the humor and human honesty that shines through in the script. Sure--it's a fantasy. Couldn't happen, right? But we wish it could. While we sit glassy eyed watching real Pro teams who play more like robots then humans with real emotion and sponsors break up the tempo of play by sandwiching endless commercials between almost every play, we can dream of the days when Pro Football was entertaining the whole season, not just at playoff time. Stripped of real drama, sanitized of all cheerleader allure to accentuate violence, penalized for almost any minor infraction, real pro football now has a difficult time staying in the game against pure entertainment like 'The Replacements.'
