Question: Trophy On Sea Floor

Sorry if this has been asked, but I didn't see anything about it looking at the thread titles.

During the opening credits Shane is scuba diving to scrape the barnacles off of a clients boat, and he sees a football trophy on the ocean floor. He goes down and looks at it, yanks the football off and starts to goof around with it.

But the trophy says "Shane Falco: All American Team" on it. Do you think it was his trophy that he presumably tossed overboard and drifted on the sea floor coming to rest under somebody else's boat?
