I liked the movie a lot, but I don't think there should be a sequel. Part of the appeal was that the players got one shot at glory, they accomplished their goal and then had to move onto regular life soon afterward. While this wasn't supposed to be a deep movie, the main idea (as expressed in the voiceover from the coach) is that the players gave it their all, got past all of their personal flaws and personality conflicts, and found glory, all while knowing that this was going to be a short-term campaign. Kind of gives a bittersweet tone to the end, which is a change of pace from the typical feel-good sports movie.

Maybe Falco gets signed by another team, but most of the other players would go back to their pre-football lives, whether that's prison, police work, anonymous jobs or running from mobsters.

Some stories just feel like one-time tales. This is one of them. The temporary nature of the strike games almost gives it a fairy-tale quality. That would be lost if they made a goofy sequel. At least that's my take.

Your take is spot on. Greatness, no matter how short lived, stays with a man.

Besides, it's starting to get a little late for a sequel. All of the actors have aged over the past 13 years. Gene Hackman is 83 and seems to be retired (understandably). Keanu Reeves is 49, too old to be playing a pro football QB who is supposed to be at his athletic peak. Brooke Langton would still be good for the story, but I don't think she would be able to carry a sequel by herself.

Ya plus the deaf tight end changed his name to Roy, moved to Scranton, got his hearing fixed, worked for a paper supplier in the warehouse and is now a millionaire. Guy has a lot going on, doubt he wants to get back into the game.

He turned his life around after his break up and dui arrest.

Yes!!!!!

Yeah, it's too late for a sequel with the actors as players. Maybe Falco moved on to be some kind of coach? That would be possible. Say a QB coach. Maybe he married Annabelle, and now have pee wee football players, or JV players in High School. I would have loved to see how many of the Replacements stayed friends.

I'm torn. On the one hand I would've loved to see a sequel back when it originally came out, now it is definitely too late. Of course all things considering, maybe it's for the best that a sequel wasn't made so that I can remember the story as it was. While I'm not mak9ng the argument that this movie is one of the best sports movie of all times, it was definitely memorable and entertaining.
