The use of adhesives such as Stickum was banned by the NFL in 1981. Despite the ban, Hall of Famer Jerry Rice freely admitted to illegally using stickum throughout his career, leading many to question the integrity of his receiving records. Rice's claim that "all players" in his era used Stickum was quickly discredited by Hall of Fame contemporaries Cris Carter and Michael Irvin.

I personally don't care much about Deflategate. It's no bigger deal than any other cheating that goes on daily. Usually the people who are passionate about it either way are Patriots fans against those that hate the Patriots and are just looking for anything. People freaked out about Deflategate, but nobody really cared all that much about Atlanta pumping in crowd noise during games. And considering how badly New England beat the Colts, with the correctly aired balls, I just can't get myself to care much about it. It's good for ESPN and the rest of the sports media to obsess about though, because they care more about controversy and off-field stories than actual sports. And then I hear these idiots on the local sports talk radio (I live in Dallas), whining and screaming about Greg Hardy getting 10 games for domestic violence, going crazy for an appeal, but then say Brady should get a full season for Deflategate.
