What was with Granny's hair?

That has to be the worst dye job I've ever seen. She must have done it the same way she dyed the yarn, i.e. with flower petals or something.

Incidentally, yes - I was kidding. This is one of my favourite films. I can't recall my exact mood or state of mind when I made that post, but I must have been rather bored indeed. :-)

She probably used henna, which is a popular natural dye in the Middle East and South Asia. Henna produces a reddish-brown color. The white part at the top is just her roots growing out. I'll admit that auburn is not the most flattering shade for most Middle Eastern skin tones, but seriously, henna dye was discovered centuries ago. Of course it doesn't look as good as modern chemical dyes. You might as well point out that their blue and white house would have looked prettier with Benjamin Moore paint.

You must be a real ignorant. That's henna and most Middle-Eastern villagers use it.
