Cheap CGI effects.
I've seen better special effects in 'Family Guy.'
shareDude, this movie is 10 years old.
shareJurassic Park is 17 years old and that still manages to maintain quite decent CGI. I guess that's got more to do with funding though :)
shareTrue but JP also used sophisticated practical effects that blended well with the CGI which makes it look great after 20 years.

Slightly larger budget.
shareI actually agree, like other poster, that the effects were pretty much near flawless. Very good, I in fact remember them as decent, nothing to envy the ones nowadays.
sharethere was a lot of chatter in some of those blue/green screen matte keys that I noticed in the blu ray. Some shots were good and others were not as good. I those those dancing edges made it seem fake in some spots.
shareAround 2000 a lot of movies were trying to go big with effects, but didn't want to commit the time/money needed for Jurassic Park level. It's pretty much, computer punch out an eagle for us. Now we are getting to where the inflation of tickets are allowing for more refined effects.
At the time of release, this isn't too far behind contemporary Oscar nominated effects. Look at Hollow Man.

The movie looked as if most of it was filmed on a sound stage. I don't mind when they film on a sound stage. I mind that it looks as if they filmed on a sound stage.
shareabsolutely. From the "eagle" in the openingsshot to everything else, you could see it was totally fake.
