I'm being 100% serious too lol, this game is so unreasonable. For me it's not fun to jump up for an hour on platforms, only to have her fat ass not respond to the jump command at the very end and then you fall. What a waste of time.
A lot of people seem to treat Tomb Raider like a typical platform game, only in 3D, when in reality, it's a 3D puzzle game. Not only do you have to figure out how to get past obstacles, you also have to figure out how to get through the levels.
The entire game is based on a grid system and Lara's moves are measured to allow you to get to exactly where you need to go. She always needs to take exactly the same number of steps before jumping, she always jumps the same distance, etc.
To perform a running jump, she needs exactly the amount of space provided by taking one hop back. As the tutorial (her mansion) tells you, to perfectly perform a running jump, walk to the edge, line up the jump, hop back, start running and immediately press the jump key. Lara will jump right at the edge. If you want to perform a running jump without stopping, then you need to press the jump button a couple steps
before the edge to give her the same distance to the edge as if you performed the hop back maneuver.
I won't say that the controls are perfect, but once you get used to them, they work fairly well. Just don't expect it to work like a typical action game.
As for Lara moving slowly (your other message); The speed in Tomb Raider is much more realistic than in most other games. In other games, you can spin your character like a top and run at speeds only a cheetah would be able to reach.
