I'd seen the movie about four times before I heard Pete say "84 years old. I'll be gumming Pabulum!"

Also when George Nelson is on the way to his execution, a woman in the crowd yells "Cow killer!"

Also when Delmar says: "Oh George, not the livestock"

I love everything that Pappy O'Daniel says, especially "weeping Jesus on the cross". It's funny the way he makes two syllables out of cross.

Any chance I could talk you into refraining from posting your political views/insults here ? I visit this site to take a break from it all. There are plenty of 'political' forums on the 'net where you can post 'til your hearts content. I enjoy film and enjoy reading others comments on these films - I don't need to know your politics too. And it may not have occurred to you but not everyone sees 'politics' as you do, why alienate these people with your constant insult ?

Stanleyhetz, you are a long time, and experienced IMDB poster. Why would posting a political view in a signature be really any different than in the body of a response? It is out there for all to see, so what is the difference?

1) (after falling off the train)

Everett: (jerking on the chain)"Well, I'm votin' for Yours Truly, too!"
(both look at Delmar expecting a tie-breaker)
Delmar: "OK. I'm with you fellas."

2) Everett: "Ain't this a geographical oddity! Two weeks from everywhere"

3) Pete: "You stole from my kin!"
Everett: "Who was fixin' to betray us."
Pete: "You didn't know that at the time."
Everett: "So I borrowed it till I did know."

4) Everett: "Uh, OK, sir, but Mert and uh... Aloysious'll have to sign x's - Only four of us can write.."
(It took watching the movie 4 times before I realized Everett conned the station owner out of an extra $20 with this bit.)

5) Everett: "No, thank you, Delmar. A third of a gopher'd only arouse my appetite
without beddin' her back down."

6) Everett: "Ain't it a small world, spiritually speakin'? Pete and Delmar just been saved. I'm the only one still unaffiliated."

By the way, I am not a fan of the film. I found it aimless and protracted, but it did have some good songs and a little bit of good dialouge.

I have tried to like the film. Even going as far as reading trivia and background details, but still I am unmoved by it all.

Love that whole scene. Charles Durning is so good. I like when Junior recommends they get there own midget for the campaign..."even smaller than Stokes'." Pappy says they would look like a bunch of "Johnny-come-latelies" if they got their own midget, "...don't matter how stumpy!" So funny.

It was hilarious when the camera changed to the police officers but you could still hear Everett in the background say " Damn, we're in a tight spot". lmao
