heaven's a nudist colony?

since everyone's clothes were left behind, heaven is a nudist colony? that doesn't sound that pleasant. also when everyone's frantically asking where there children/loved ones went, why are they asking people if they have seen them? i mean a pile of clothes would indicate to me that they were disintigrated on the molecular level.

reply

I'm sure they were given new clothes in Heaven. Also the people were asking if the disapered had been seen because they were desperate.

reply

Well in Genesis, Adam and Eve didn't wear clothes before they ate the fruit from the tree, so maybe when we're in Heaven we will go back to those times.

reply

In Heaven, there ain't no clothes
That's why we wear them here.

Here is an interesting question. What will we look like in heaven. Will we look the same before death or will be appear as the most perfect version of ourselves.

reply

I think that the most common answer given is that "we won't care about such things when we're in heaven."

reply

Within the Left Behind universe, Heaven is explained in some detail in the prequel trilogy which LaHaye and co. wrote, third volume The Rapture.

In a general address of the topic, there are many different versions of heaven in many different religions/stories, since it's an imaginary place. It can be anything you want, and can even have a brainy scarecrow, a heartfelt tin-man, a neurotic lion, and a chorus of midgets chanting "We represent the heavenly realms, the heavenly realms, the heavenly realms, and in the name of the heavenly realms, we wish to welcome you to Jesusland."

reply

We represent the heavenly realms, the heavenly realms, the heavenly realms, and in the name of the heavenly realms, we wish to welcome you to Jesusland.

LOL!!!!!!!!! “As Mayor of the Munchkin City, in the county of the land of Oz…”

Well since I am one who remembers the music from MGM's, "The Wizard of Oz", I think that is quite funny. jmarkoff2, we tend to disagree on some things but today you made me laugh.

Thanks.

reply

That's the thing, any detailed thought into what heaven is will spark arguments and laughter. No one has ever described/shown it in any realistic idealistic way that could be at all compelling for all of eternity.

That's why people basically don't bother, even though we have plenty of filmmakers who could have shown us something worth looking forward to. A painter could draw one image of heaven and satisfy people a thousand years ago, but now people still can't imagine anything more than an image, possibly a single scene in a movie, but never a feature length film worth of images and ideas. It would be incredibly dull or silly. Like the Backstreet Boys popping up to sing, or b!tches in bikinis or just sitting on clouds eating bagels.

It's a lot easier to imagine hell, because boring is fine. Keeping someone on fire with all of eternity doesn't take much imagination and it would be effective enough, though we can all imagine other horrible ways to spend all eternity since even heaven can seem like hell when you imagine having to do anything forever.

reply

Exactly.
It is in human nature to get bored. Whether you spend it in hell or heaven, both will be boring and heaven becomes your hell.
For some of us, things can get boring fast. Some people go to many different restaurants for other flavors. Some travel around the world. I read science books.

A thousand years is a long time to live. Imagine living for 1 million years.
How about a billion. How about 10^100?
Every sentence will have been spoken, every combination of words to make sentences would have been formed.
What is the next step? Do you become a god and make other humans and it goes on and on?
That too will get boring eventually and besides, the christian god doesn't like other gods.

The only realistic solution is to wipe your memory once in a while but I think a christian would consider this death which makes their life pointless.

There was no such thing as nudity with them. That's why after they ate the fruit they hid and GOD asked them why were they hiding, they replied "because we are naked" Gods response, "Who told you you were naked?" There was no carnal knowledge before the fall of man and there will be no carnal knowledge in heaven. Carnal is sin. No sin in heaven. How do you clothe a spirit, a heavenly body? According to the Word, we will know each other as GOD knows us. No clothing required.

reply

What do you mean by Carnal Knowledge, Proctorism?

I always assumed it meant sex. Sex wasn't the original sin, disobedience was. Clearly God wasn't planning on a world populated by only 2 people. They were meant to be fruitful and multiply. No sex in heaven, of course.

But I love your point about clothing a spirit. makes a lot of sense.

Love is never having to say you're sober.

reply

Adam and Eve covered up their bodies because they were ASHAMED of disobeying God.

If you consider that, as any brain surgeon would admit, that THIS reality is 'illusion' then if there is a Heaven, THERE IS THE REALITY. No clothing, because we will be spirits without the need of a corporeal form.

Since I was about three years of age, perhaps slightly younger, I have known to the CORE of my being, that within my corporeal body is my ETERNAL SELF. I have never doubted for a minute that I am a creation of a God, even though I was born into a atheistic family.
When I die and thus leave this plain of existence, I will be returning to my REAL existence. KNOWING THAT as a FACT has allowed me a greater freedom than most people, so that I have lived a life of far more adventure than most people. I've destroyed chemical weapons for a living on a 648 acre coral atoll deep in the South Pacific, I have worked on a sourgas project in New Guinea, on other projects in Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, South Africa, West Africa, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, and the Antarctic.
Because I am not afraid of death. It will only be a transition back to reality from this testing / proving ground called 'earth' and I will gladly depart my physical body. Joyously in fact.

Life is a journey not a destination. Fear nothing.

reply

Naked just means not covered. For example, my desk is not covered by a cloth right now. So, the story about Adam and Eve is old bs from the jews.

reply

Jesus said that in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage which implies asexuality.

I'm sure the resurrected are given new clothing if required, since the clothing of most of the dead has been long disintegrated.

According to the Bible, the righteous are clothed with white robes in heaven:

"After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands" - Revelation 7:9

I imagine that LaHaye and Jenkins, as Biblical fundamentalists and literalists, had this in mind.
